|In order to better serve the special needs population of the City, and to insure that all agencies have access to a common confidential list, emergency and support services will institue and maintain City-Wide Special Needs List. The list will be kept strictly confidential, and will only be used by emergency personnel in the event of an emergency such as a fire, flood, serious storm or power failure to provide assistance to those with special needs.
Individuals would be considered special needs if they are: confined to a wheelchair, use or have oxygen present in their home, have mental or physical handicaps, are hearing or sight impaired, elderly and live alone or are senior citizens in need of assistance in an emergency.
The list will be kept in a secure computer database and updated every six months. The information will also be used to develop a reverse 9-1-1 phone list which would be used to notify those with special needs about emergency issues or events.
